The story started in 1997, when our friend Manfred Luigi Lugmayr
(website
http://www.i4u.com) had an idea to make a tool
that will automatically fill online forms. The first idea was to create
a browser dependent solution that would parse the HTML and enter the data into the form.
But such a solution would only work for a specific browser
and would not give the ability to drag the key into a java applet or a Windows
form.
After some research we found out how to make a global solution that would work
with every browser or every "window". 3 months later we developed the
first prototype. By that time Luigi had another idea :) He suggested supporting
skins. We started the implementation. After 4 additional months of work "KeyManager"
(the former name of KeyWallet) was ready.
Then it was my turn to write help for the program. And I hated doing that. Eventually I did
something that should be a kind of help... Later Alex and me got some new work and we stopped
the development. We worked as software engeneers for different companies and then I
occasionally discovered
Gator. I took a look at that
tool and it encouraged us to release the KeyWallet. We started to correct
some little bugs and implement some new usefull features. And so in 2001 we released the KeyWallet.
